You and Your Family

  • Know the risks you face here in Nova Scotia
  • Make sure your 72-hour emergency kit is ready. In winter add extra blankets, warm clothing and footwear, salt and shovels, and sufficient heating fuel.
  • If you have a cell phone, make sure your battery is fully charged or can be charged by a solar or battery-powered device.
  • Develop or review an emergency plan for you and your family
  • Know ahead of time what you should do to help elderly or disabled friends, neighbours or employees
  • Protect your pets
