Claim Approval Process

 

The Event Occurs
Following a significant natural disaster, an impact assessment is completed to determine the extent and severity of damages.
 

 

Disaster Program is Authorized
Upon receipt of a recommendation from EMO, the Governor-In-Council approves the establishment of a DFA program.
 

 

Applications are Provided and Eligibility Determined
Criteria are established, applications for assistance are made available and assistance is offered to eligible applicants.
 

 

Applications are Received
Requests for assistance are received supported by Schedules of Loss, estimates, invoices, photos and other relevant documentation.
 

 

Assessment Process
If DFA basic criteria are satisfied, as adjuster is assigned to the file for site inspection and damage assessment.

 

 
EMO Evaluation and Approval
Applications with the adjuster's reports are evaluated and eligible assistance is approved and offered to the applicant.
